Finally GTA for the psp has been released, a constant topic of discussion in our podcasts from the first onwards it is gratifying to finally have the game. EB Games and other retailers on the 1/12/05 in Australia
started selling GTA for the psp after 5pm. Why after 5? This was because the offical launch is technically the 2nd of December and this was apparently some loophole but who cares we have it! The game does
require all psp owners to update to version 2.0 firmware negating the use of homebrew. Despite these concerns Aaron and myself have both upgraded and both have started playing GTA on the psp.

So quickly here is a quick rundown of my thoughts
- Very familar city, new yet i know my way around pretty well (little over confident on a freeway ended up wasted in the drink apparently its not built yet).
- Graphics are almost as good as GTAIII was when it launched on the PS2 (which helps seeing as it is sort of the same city)
- Radio i like the radio plus custom tracks we are living the dream people WE ARE LIVING THE DREAM!
- Cars very familar cars and of course motorcyles, it is harder to control the vechicles with the analog stick.
- Walking more awkard but still very natural.
- No real learning curve, controls all logical.
- in home you can see and hear noises /people outside your windows makes inside much more intresting.
- missions so far short an sweet.
- So far no aim problems, doesnt auto select bad guy on screen from miles away but when in a reasonable distance it ignores pedestrians and goes straight for greatest threat.

More to come on this weekends podcast.

<itunes:summary>In a recent press conference, the CEO of Take-2 has all but confirmed there will be a second GTA for the PSP. "For Fiscal 2006, we are well positioned for the opportunities to extend our brands across the large installed base of current generation platforms, as well as next generation hardware including the two previously announced Rockstar Games titles for the PSP, one of which is a new Grand Theft Auto title."
-- Paul Eibeler, President and CEO, Take Two Interactive

Now if they just hurried up and released GTA LCS to the rest of the world then I might actually care about this news.

There has been recent speculation (check our upcoming podcast) on the upcoming GTA game for the psp actually being a simulation game more like a Championship Manger than a true GTA title. This stems from recent annocements that you will actual play as the boss of the family and not a low level dude working his way up (bye bye Rocky feel good feeling). The game is apparently the same size as GTA Vice city, and the speculation is that while u can free roam the world, it will only be to supervise gang jobs and not actual particpation. We here at TGS certainly hope/believe this will turn out to be a load of bullshit.

PSP firmware downgrader in action from WAB and PSP-Dev. Not only have we found a way to downgrade 1.5x firmware but now 2.0 firmwares also qualify for a downgrade! Incase you are un-aware PSP-Dev and WAB are two European PSP Development teams who will be releasing this superb downgrader, which will allow the running of homebrew code on ALL PSP’s.”
