He over scheduled his weekend. So when we met up on Australia day(friday) he thought they we could do it like normal on Saturday and we could have Australia day off. Then 10 minutes before i leave for his house to do the show Saturday he calls up with the bad news that he forgot that he has to go out for dinner with his parents.

So yes we are still here, yes we should hopefully still have one this week although it will be a couple days late. The point i am trying to make is when you get mad we didnt do a show dont shoot the messenger (me). Shoot the culprit(Aaron)

We have not stopped, unfortunately the mic was just the begining of our problems getting back on track.

Part of the reason we didnt replace the mic sooner was we were broke and even so we had an oppurtunity a week or so ago to pick one up anyway (albeit putting ourselves in debt and no its not really that expensive we are just that broke). We were about to do this when we couldnt get together on the weekend to do the show, one day i was working and the next day Aaron was busy with his family all day i had to study for exams on monday and tuesday anyway. Now the really bad news Aaron just left wednesday to go overseas for 2 weeks on a holiday with his gf(F**king Bastard). I have an exam next tuesday and have been working everyday inbetween to get myself out of debt and to get the new equipment. We also lost some motivation, i mean after talking all year about e3 to actually miscovering it was a huge blow. Not that we dont love you guys, but another podcast on the network that just started a gaming show to “The PSP Show” has gotten in it first 2 months about 20x the amount of downloads we get a show.

So when will we be back, in about 2 weeks with a slightly changed show, with a relaxed Aaron and a tired Michael. Yes vidcast as well.

So what games have we been playing all this time, what gaming stuff has changed for us.

Aaron got:
A DS - Light
new super mario bros
a flash kit to play ds homebrew
bought UNO on XBLA
Rockstar TableTennis (Before he left we had a 1500+ rally, we took pictures dont know if we still have em, if we do we will post em)
Probably some other crap i forgot about.

Me:
Well i finally managed to get a new (second hand) PS2 so look forward to some more ps2 coverage.
Still got my psp on 1.5, played some Tokobot, lemmings, Street Fighter 2 Alpha
Stopped playing Diablo II
Finished Star Wars Empire At War
Started playing some The Movies (Sidenote expansion was just released)
Getting back in to Counter Strike: Source (been playing the RPG mod mostly in the last 7 days)
playing flash games as always.
when i have the money ill be getting Valves Episode 1.

So yeah, thats whats going on, we will be back as soon as possible.

Hope your all with us then.

So we havent been able to get the equipment in time this week. We also both have obligations this weekend so even if we did have it we probably wouldnt be able to do a show. Great Timing, yeah i know we have zero to talk about anyway, just E3 and who really cares about that. E3 only really informs you on every major upcoming event or product in the next year in gaming. Any who. While Aaron and i complete our obligations this weekend (for me 3 assignments and 1 essay, for Aaron who knows that just one lazy prick) i thought it would be a good idea to take this time to better the show.

Like the title says we have done 40 Podcasts and 10 Vidcasts and are about 8 weeks out from our year milestone. So nows the time to suggest changes, we dont think we have changed our style much and we think its time to just subtlely tweek a few things about the show. This is where you come in. We need your help on ideas and suggestions to help us improve both the podcast and the vidcast. Below are some examples of some suggestions if you agree with any or have any others drop a comment or email us at tpngamingshow(at)gmail.com .

PODCAST TWEAK IDEAS:
- Back to one 40-50 minute show
- one shorter show 20-30 minutes
- two shows one news based one indepth discussion on an issue. Length?
- New intro music?
- No intro music?
- No segment music.
- Segment music but only if we can do it seemlessly
- Weekly game reviews
- More PC stuff
- More handheld stuff
- More console stuff (Seriously you want more?)
- Guest’s if so who?
- More Australian based news
- Less Australian based news
- More background information on companies and people involved in news items. E.G Explaining what Blizzard or RARE have done if they appear in the news. Or Who Jack Thompson is and why do we care if he makes waves again.
- Stop explaining so much crap we already know. E.g The opposite of the above point
- Podcast Chapters (if you dont know what this is dont worry).
- More detailed show notes

VIDCAST TWEAK IDEAS:
- Shorter show 10 -15 minutes
- Longer show about 1 hr.
- Less Trailers
- More Trailers
- Less News
- More News
- One show with the news and trailers and one with a game demonstration of an upcoming game
- Handheld games
- Less xbox 360
- More xbox 360
- Different formats (It took a long time to set up the 3 feeds we have currently we are unlikely to be able to offer another)
- Larger Hires file (currently i keep it in the 200mb range for 30mins)
- Smaller Hires file
- Larger LowRes/ipod file (Currenlty i keep it about 90mb for 30mins)
- Smaler LowRes/ipod file
- Guests.
- more Retro
- NO MORE RETRO
- Occasional retro
- new Background
- Less Distracting credits (eg. not playing over the top the outgoing trailer)
- No magic background. (eg . instead of us appearing against a moving background or any background image we just appear in the house we shot it, drawbacks are we cant appear on top of a game we are playing, and other small noticable problems wiht overlaying images about current news items.
- Content is fine but needs a better order E.G All news first then 3 trailers then discussion then game demonstartion then end.

These are just some ideas. We would like yours, and feed back on these. I mean if you dont speak up nothing will change. So if you have an opnion

One of the biggest annoucements of this upcoming E3 has broken early via a close soure of mine at Nintendo, which i confirmed with a not so close friend who is a developer inside Blizzard. Actually all he would says is “Who told you?” there was no sarcasm in his voice on the call maybe just a hint of stress.

My proof? Not much just the box art.

This is absoulutly amazing news. Whats more amazing? Blizzard and Nintendo have had all the major gaming press keep it a secret, they have actually known about it for a month. Expect to see this to be confirmed day 1 of E3.

I dont have any information on if the Wii controller will be used in any special way, but sources do tell me the logical the revolution game will be 100% compatible with the PC/Mac version. Apparently Blizzard has wanted to port the popular MMORPG for ages but Sony and Microsoft want them to change the game to much (mostly improve the graphics) and intergrate with their online services in such a way that would have broken the desktop compatitablity. The absolute last detail i have is it will be a launch title. As to whether Blizzard will give us all Burning Wii (Burning Crusade) i dont know.
I have the leaked box art below

Introducing WoW-Wii …

To be more accurate i do join forums i just do not participate in them (i mean they often contain a picture or an image before everywhere else that you can only access by login)

Why?

10 Quick Reasons:

1. Mod/Admin Power Trips.

2. People afraid of the odd curse word.

3. Oversensitivity of veteran members (just becuase your post count is your most attractive personal quality doesnt mean you can act like a bitch!)

4. Flamewars Nintendo Vs Microsoft Vs Sony, this will never be “won”. The outcome only varies depending on which forum you are in because of their “insert company name” fanboyism.

5. Stupid posts by people requesting information on or breaking the forums “Rules” or “Read Me Before Posting” thread. E.g not searching before posting a question or a request. Ten threads in a week asking “How do i beat such & such”
6. Stupid posts again, this time by people request crap that you can find in 2 seconds in goolge using their own thread title.

7. Stupid people. How do you even figure out where internet forums are? I guess thats why they dont leave when they reveal there stupidity, they cant figure out how to find another forum to harass.

8. Time-wasing, why the fuck would i bother wasting my time reading your opionion you should be spending your time watching our podcast/vidcast and promoting The Gaming Show.

9. Bad usability, emails about PM’s , PM’s about emails, PM’s and emails about thread changes, arcade games, money?(Fuck finally i can make my name gold and flash WOOT!!!)

10. The fact that i dont even participate in forums any more yet it still pisses me off and all these forum trolls. ( i swear to god some people bought WoW just to talk in the game forums.)

….
Well thats the gist of this post but lets look at an example. (Now its about to get real lengthy)

Now a couple of weeks ago, i was browsing a gaming website much like this one. I was reading an article about the Marc Ecko ban and i decided to look at the comments. The intresting thing about this website it the comments for its articles are actually in its forum which is how i related it back to joining forums.

Check it out here WARNING!!! Long Read.

For your reference

this guy who i refer to below as the guy i “fight with” is called Jibbs on the forum.

I am posting under the name modiika.

and the moderator who appears later is called David.

Anyway back on point this one guy comes out and said (im paraphrasing) that it is logical to ban Marc Ecko and not GTA in Australia because spraycans kids can buy and guns they cant. So i decided to respond to his ludicrious arguments (all focused around that issue). Now being the person i am i dont take many things seriously and certainly not forum debates. So as a half joke the first line of my post read “^ Fack You”. From then on i talked about everything he said and why i thought its was wrong, using sprinkling of sarcasm to not only highlight my point but also to just be a little humourous.

I guess i failed because the next reply was from the guy trying to rip me a new asshole. Now i dont like guys trying to touch my ass let alone rip it open but i am man enough to admit it when they succeed. He didnt. He posted about 300 words about me mostly personal attacks things like ‘your lack of secondary education’, ‘handbag full of cusswords’. Now i will point out when he did land a hit on me “like you i took into account your number of posts, whereby i completely disregard anything you say cause, by your reasoning, your not a gamer and you don’t know anything.” SNAP! OWWW THAT HAS GOT TO HURT! I mean damn he was packing 880+ posts and lowly me with just 5. True i did mention his post count first only so that i could deduce openly that he must be a gamer to have that many posts on a gaming forum seeing as i knew/know nothing else about this person.

So now you might be thinking about my reply. However that is still several hours away as i am not checking the post every 20 seconds for a reply. Later that day…
I read his post. Shocked. I read it again. “ Maybe if you first realised i wasn’t for nor against the banning of the game, raised some counterpoints to what i said, and generally composed yourself like a normal man(no, peking man doesn’t count) we could have had an assertive debate and maybe, JUST MAYBE, even learnt something.”

Hmm apparently i didnt raise any counterpoints. Strange seeing as i did remember doing just that. SoI replied to his insults against me, with a blow by blow break down of exactly what he said and when and where i countered him and all insults against my post and those against me personally(such as his claim that my post was censoring him. How the hell could i do that seeing as i cant edit his post or remove it nor requested it to be done, let alone with another post). Then asking him to look at all the points i raised and debate me like he truely wanted.
I then get an email alerting me to a PM (Why the fuck cant the email contain the PM, I mean its the exact same amount of email traffic)

“If you do one more personal attack on someone like that, you’ll be banned for a while.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you are attacking with personal remarks, and not very well at that.

This is a just a warning, but don’t do it again.” from some MOD.

Did this mod ever think i wasnt trying to attack him personally but attack his point of view. Maybe he did, i guess he would have been fine with my odd personal remarks if they had been harder hitting. Good Work Moderating. I mean damn was that PM desitined to keep me in order. I mean there was no way i could show my face again in there with lame comebacks. (i replied once more but not agaisnt the guy who i had been having this argument with but this mod, see below)
Now truth be told, i did have a few more odd remarks aimed at the guy in my post such as “shame on you for calling yourself a gamer” because of the point he was advicating. However i did not post soley attacking him my post was about 1000 words as you can probably tell i can take a long time to explain things. Yet he responded not discussing a single question i asked of him and with pure personal attacks. Yet i was being threated with being banned? So i asked the mod did you warn the other guy (his name is Jibbs) and i got this reply.

“No, he did not get a warning, he didn’t insult anyone for no reason.’ - mod

Oh he had a reason! Sorry my bad. Obivously being wrong and being called on it, is a licence to attack someone Gratis.

I just ignored this.

The mod then posted a brag in the thread how he had stepped in and “PM’d me”.

I replied

“What is the point of you PMing me and then coming on here to gloat about it. I may have this wrong, so feel free to correct me but isn’t a PM a ‘Personal Message’.

Not that i particularly care if you tell everyone how great you are for PMing me.

It’s like the first time anyone has figured out how to use a PM”

And thus i wrap it up here. I no longer bothered responding with these crazy lunatics they just cemented my view that forums are crap.

If you missed it earlier the link to the thread is here.

<itunes:summary>To be more accurate i do join forums i just do not participate in them (i mean they often contain a picture or an image before everywhere else that you can only access by login)

Why?

10 Quick Reasons:

1. Mod/Admin Power Trips.

2. People afraid of the odd curse word.

3. Oversensitivity of veteran members (just becuase your post count is your most attractive personal quality doesnt mean you can act like a bitch!)

4. Flamewars Nintendo Vs Microsoft Vs Sony, this will never be "won". The outcome only varies depending on which forum you are in because of their "insert company name" fanboyism.

5. Stupid posts by people requesting information on or breaking the forums "Rules" or "Read Me Before Posting" thread. E.g not searching before posting a question or a request. Ten threads in a week asking "How do i beat such %26 such"

9. Bad usability, emails about PM's , PM's about emails, PM's and emails about thread changes, arcade games, money?(Fuck finally i can make my name gold and flash WOOT!!!)

10. The fact that i dont even participate in forums any more yet it still pisses me off and all these forum trolls. ( i swear to god some people bought WoW just to talk in the game forums.)

....

Check it out here [1]WARNING!!! Long Read.

For your reference

this guy who i refer to below as the guy i "fight with" is called Jibbs on the forum.

So as a half joke the first line of my post read "^ Fack You".

He didnt. He posted about 300 words about me mostly personal attacks things like 'your lack of secondary education', 'handbag full of cusswords'. Now i will point out when he did land a hit on me "like you i took into account your number of posts, whereby i completely disregard anything you say cause, by your reasoning, your not a gamer and you don't know anything." SNAP!

However that is still several hours away as i am not checking the </itunes:summary>

An arcade game Geometry Wars (AS SEEN ON THE VIDCAST - sidenote you will see this phrase more often). So i went about finding a copy for the pc hoping there was an offical version.

There wasnt.

I did find a whole host of fan made clones.

I now give to you the clone that most closely resembles the xbox 360 version, like the other clones it allows you to use a whole host of gamepads for the most realistic experince next to owning a 360. Now i play with my keyboard and mouse called hybrid mode closest non-gamepad control mode.

So get it here its called GridWars.

Dont worry as the title says there is a PC and a MAC version however i have only tested the PC version atm the MAC one is 1 version behind.

UPDATE: Seem it is having some problems on my Mac, ohwell I’ll just go play my 360 then.
