PSP Location Free TV Video

PSPDrive has got there hands on a cool video showcasing the Location Free TV feature of the PSP. It may be a short video, but it looks pretty cool. If only the basestation didn’t cost you a leg it might actually be worth it. Enjoy!

Well, i read somewhere, I think it was Kotaku that PSP users don’t have to buy the Location Free Basestation, instead Sony is doing something with the PS3 which basically does the same thing (or it is the same).
Although not confirmed yet, i think thats the reason why Sony hasn’t been marketing the LocationFree Basestation toward PSP owners.
Well anyway i found the article:
“This may be old news, but if it is I completely missed it the first time around. In the latest issue of PSM, a reader writes in to ask about the Playstation Portable’s LocationFree TV support and whether it can be used with the Playstation 3.
Back at E3 during the unveiling, Sony announced that the PS3 would be able to stream multimedia content to the PSP. PSM is saying that they’ve talked to developers who say that it will be done through LocationFree TV. In other words, don’t buy a $300 LocationFree TV base station if you plan on purchasing a PS3, it will be a waste of money.
This explains why Sony has been so disinterested in talking up the PSP’s TV-streaming capabilities. When I talked to the official Playstation folk, they told me to talk to the consumer electronics folk, who roundly dismissed me. I’m assuming they don’t want to officially announce the capabilities yet, but also don’t want to persuade people into buying unnecessary equipment.”
